BIM Life: Jessica Holmes

Since starting with us back in April of last year (2016) Jessica has been a fixture at the BIM studio, inspiring all those who have the pleasure of training with her.

Prior to commencing her transformation journey, Jessica had a long list of excuses that kept her out of the gym, like many of us. But after adopting her son Jack she realized that she needed (and wanted) to live a long time, which lead her to make the decision to invest in herself… and the results of that investment shows.

In the 6 months that Jessica has been training with us she has lost an incredible 18 pounds and completely transformed how she looks and feels.

To say that we are proud of all that Jessica has accomplished so far would be an understatement. This wife and mother of 5—no you did not read that wrong, she does in fact have 5 beautiful children—is an excellent example of the power of hard work and dedication. And we consider ourselves lucky to be a part of her continued journey.

Over the past year I have been slowly making changes to live life with greater balance, simplicity, and purpose. As a wife and working mom of five, there was a long list of excuses that kept me out of the gym. After the adoption of our son Jack I was beginning to have more bad days than good, and felt tired and worn down most of the time. One day I realized I needed to live a long time. I was going to be sending children to school for another 18 years! There was a whole team of people that depended on me daily and I didn’t want to be a spectator as they moved through life. I wanted to be an active participant.

I researched every gym I could find online and found a home at Balance In Motion. BIM is in my neighbourhood, has highly trained coaches to help me move beyond my injuries, and has provided me with the right balance of encouragement and accountability. I was so nervous to walk in the doors the first time… who did I think I was? I am not an athlete, nor have I ever been coordinated or demonstrate an ability to commit to a workout program. But I knew if I was going to LIVE I had to MOVE! BIM’s staff helped me create a realistic plan and have guided me every step of the way.

My first goal was to keep moving and wake up and do it again. Four months later I can say I am meeting new milestones every week and beginning to see how being strong and consistent in the gym is paying off in all areas of my life. What I didn’t anticipate was the awesome new community I was joining. We may be different, but I have found new friends and have been inspired by the many amazing people I train alongside. I am continuing to understand that fear can be crippling, and I was terrified to take the first step, but I was determined to live the life I dreamt for my children. The dream is finding a way to be brave and face fear one small step at a time. And for me that first step was Balance In Motion.
